Separate the products from the car price

A GAP agreement, service contract or protection package may be a separate charge—or hard to locate in the total. If you were told it was required, preserve the quote and written messages alongside the contract.

The review lists products, prices, coverage forms and selections visible in your file. It flags missing forms, mismatched amounts and optionality language. A disputed charge alone does not establish a violation or guarantee a refund.

If you are also considering cancellation after a recent purchase, check the document checklist for a California used-car return.

Optionality and benefit are separate questions

Rules operative October 1, 2026 address clear written optionality disclosures when a dealer makes written add-on representations during negotiations. They also prohibit charges for products that do not benefit the buyer, while allowing selected products that do.

What was represented, selected and covered are fact and document questions. We compare your file with official information; we do not declare every warranty, GAP product or dealer-installed item unlawful.

Your add-on review file

  • Itemized buyer’s order and signed contract, including payment totals.
  • GAP, warranty, service-contract and protection-product forms.
  • Quote or written messages saying a product was required.
  • A brief account of what you were told and which charge you question.

The output groups charges with supporting forms, flags missing coverage or price information, and lists questions for the dealer or provider. Any product cancellation process in your file is identified without promising a refund.

After payment, associate your Ko-fi account or receipt with the order and send readable, redacted copies through Ko-fi private messages. If attachments fail, use a restricted view-only link. Remove identity and account numbers, full signatures and home addresses; keep dates, amounts and terms readable.
